In More Detail

Using the 5 elements (Earth, Water, Fire, Air, Space) alongside the corresponding chakras, we will work our way through the elements, exploring how we can tap into these different energies to bring more balance and greater awareness to our mind, body, soul – and the way we move!

What is Embodied Movement?

Our bodies get used to the same patterns & the same movements, day after day, we can become unaware and “stuck” in our ways... physically, emotionally and energetically.  This practice is a combination of different conscious movements, moving the body in ways we just don’t get to do with other forms of exercise (even yoga!)

We will explore movements in a fun & dynamic way, a combination of body isolation, dance, martial arts, yoga, mindful exercises & intutive motions from animalistic, to sensual, to childlike & playful flow, dance & find freedom through movement.. a mix of all kinds of crazy, conscious, fun stuff to move in YOUR way, for YOUR body, building connection with our true Self and others.

Learn to bring more awareness to the body, release blockages, heal & prevent injury, become "un-stuck", improve balance, strength & flexibility & fluidity.  Think & move outside the box (in fact, there is no box!)

My Story

Integrating Embodied Movement alongside my yoga practice has literally changed my life, inside & out.  I used to be very stiff in my movements and with a lot of recurring pain.  I have always loved to dance but back then I would look at videos of myself and cringe!  My shoulders were all hunched up, there was no fluidity in my movements and actually I just didn't feel feminine at all.  I was so shy to express myself fully in my movements and this reflected itself as "stuck" energy in my body..

 

It is not so simple to heal oneself through "dancing it out" - I had to go inside, outside, all sides.. because this was a lot deeper than a physical surface level!

 

Just as Yoga reflects our lives, so does Dance and so does Movement.  By moving and bringing more awareness to my body I have overcome ALL this shyness.. unlocked so much of the stiffness in my body and finally I feel feminine, able to embrace my sensuality with a confidence, a knowing, that comes from deep within.  I no longer have these recurring pains and if something does pop up I notice it and find a way to heal it.

 

So because of this, I want to share all I have learned with others, because I know there are so many out there, stuck in our patterns, looking to make a shift but maybe not sure how to make that first step.. first move.. or first wiggle!

Accommodation

Surrounded by the rolling hills of Andalucia, sits the magical retreat centre of Suryalila.  It really is like a view out of the Alchemist!

Traditionally an old olive farm, it has been regenerated into an eco permaculture site with a beautifully renovated farmhouse along with glamping tents and yurts, offering accomodation types ot suit all budgets.

The property is home to some 200 olive trees and much of the food served is grown on the land itself.

The saltwater pool is perfect for an early morning dip or lounging around in the afternoons, as is the lush green lawn and the many shaded zen areas around the property. 

There's plenty of space to either connect with others or find peace and tranquility with a little lone time if you need.  No matter where you are you are spoilt stunning panoramic views!

All food is lovingly prepared organic vegan & vegetarian and much of which is grown onsite.  Gluten free and dairy free are easily catered for as are other allergies.

Day 1: WELCOME

3pm – Check in (feel free to arrive from 12pm)

5pm – Welcome Circle

6pm – Gentle Hatha Practice

7:30pm – Dinner

9pm - Connection time - with eachother, yourself or nature!

 

Day 2: EARTH

8am – Morning Yoga Flow – Earth Element

9:30am – Breakfast

10:30am – Local Nature Walk

1:30pm – Lunch

Free Time to Siesta / Journal / Enjoy the pool / Book a Massage

5pm – Embodied Movement & Dance Flow (Earth Element)

7pm – Dinner

8:30pm  – Yoga Nidra

 

Day 3: WATER

8am – Morning Yoga Flow – Water Element

9:30am – Breakfast

10:30am – Nature Walk to Waterfalls

1:30pm – Lunch

Free Time to Siesta / Journal / Enjoy the pool / Book a Massage

5pm – Embodied Movement & Dance Flow

7pm – Dinner

8:30pm  – Yin / Restorative - Surrendering

 

Day 4: FIRE

8am – Morning Yoga Flow (Fire & Air Element)

9:30am – Breakfast

11am – Find Your Fire!

Excerises for identifying & letting go of self limiting beliefs, finding your fire, releasing & expressing, losing inhibitions. Journalling &/or Group Work/Sharing.

1:30pm – Lunch

Free Time to Siesta / Journal / Enjoy the pool / Book a Massage

7pm – Dinner

8pm - Eco Sauna

 

Day 5 - AIR

8am – Morning Yoga Flow (Air Element)

9:30am – Breakfast

11am - Free Time for Self Compassion! - Massage or "Me time"

1:30pm - Lunch

5:30pm - Embodied Movement & Dance (Air Element)

7pm - Dinner

8pm - Free Evening - Star gaze, relax, take a walk or visit local village

 

Day 6 - SPACE

8am – Morning Yoga Flow (Space Element)

9:30am – Breakfast

11am - Free Time for SPACE - Relax by the pool, journal massage, excursion to local towns/beach also available

1:30pm - Lunch

5:30pm - Heart Opening Yin

7pm - Dinner

8:30pm - Cacao & Fire Ceremony

 

Day 7 - INTEGRATION

8am – Morning Yoga & Movement Flow (5 Elements Flow) & Closing Circle

9:30am – Breakfast

11am - Check Out!

 

Feel free to enjoy the facilities of Suryalila until 3pm. Option to add lunch for 15euros.
