It is of upmost importance to Free Spirit to ensure our products are manufactured in an ethical way.
We personally visit our factory in South India, where our t-shirts are made, witnessing everything from the raw cotton being spun into yarn, made into fabric, dyed, washed, printed and sewn, which gives us greater control in ensuring the quality of our product and also a highly ethical work environment.
The textiles industry is an imperative source of income in South India, and the skilled professionals in our factories are as passionate about the garments they produce as we are. Equally environmentally conscious, we work together to ensure all stages of production are carried out within 10km of eachother, cutting down on unnecessary shipping, fuel and energy consumption.
Our supplier's production facilities have been rated among the highest in the industry for quality by demanding inspection teams from prominent companies. Our suppliers consistently update and improve their manufacturing facilities, making full use of all the technological advancements in the textile industry.
Free Spirit recognizes its responsibilities to workers for the conditions under which its products are made and that these responsibilities extend to all workers producing products or services for Free Spirit. We believe that good workplace standards, decent health and safety requirements, fair pay and conditions, and care for the environment are essential for every business.
We value all of our employees, and set the same high standard for their working conditions as we set for the high quality of our products. All our factories Our factories are GOTS (Global Organic Textile Fibre) certified and Standard 100 by OEKO-TEX certified, ensuring no toxic dyes or chemicals are used.
Organic cotton is made from natural seeds, and there is no use of pesticides or other harmful chemicals, making them safer for the skin. Crops are rotated from one soil to another and the nutrients retain water for longer, requiring less irrigation and using much less water.
By choosing organic methods we are investing not only in the water conservation but also farmer livelihoods
Cutting Down Our Environmental Impact
Free Spirit is always looking for new ways to cut down our company waste and reduce our impact on the environment.
Any wrapping used for bulk shipping are bio-degradable and we re-use those we have where possible, saving a huge amount of needless rubbish every month. All packaging used to ship individual orders, including swing tags and wrapping are from recycled card and paper.
We have recently introduced our new shipping partner The Better Packaging Co, who provide our post bags - each one is entirely compostable and will turn to compost within 90 days!
We believe these practices should be an important part of the future of every business and we hope that our customers feel the same way.
This is something we are extremely passionate about and work hard to achieve!
Our new range of Eco-leggings are made from recycled plastic bottles! Approximately 32 plastic bottles are saved from our oceans or landfill for every pair made!
